Re: Nails & deck attachme
Posted by LeeG on Sep 7, 2005
only time I drilled pilot holes was when I installed the decks with the underside pre-glassed with 4oz and the epoxy was soft cured. The first nails pushed the glass off the wood so the subsequent nails were through pre-drilled holes. On a Ch18 the aft deck had two layers of 4oz on the underside between the bulkhead and hatch and pre-drilled holes made it easier to nail it on. When a 275lb person is climbing on the aft deck of a Ch18 or sits on the aft deck behind the coaming it needs some kind of glass under the wood.
