The above suggestions are best.

But if you are in a hurry and don't have compressor etc handy, here is a quick and dirty method if you have a high-speed rotary tool.

Carefully blend the edges of the pits (which are initially vertical and very sharp) into the surrounding flat surface using the large (1 inch dia. or so) black abrasive disk cutter. The flimsy little orange disks will work in a pinch, but they are smaller, and they frequently shatter.

When your cutter just reaches the bottom of the pit, the white will disappear. If you cut any further, you will cut plywood.
