Re: John's Sharpie

I haven't been keeping track, so I can't answer exactly. I buy a stick or two at a time.
Maybe you could calculate it.
Anyway, it doesn't seem like I've spent more than 100.00 so far on lumber. That's deck and transom reinforcement and sheer clamps (Tulip-poplar), long deck stringers (Western Red-cedar) and mast steps and daggerboard lumber (common SPF lumber).
The spars aren't bought yet. I will use Western Red-cedar for them.
All the above lumber is fairly inexpensive at the big box or hardware store.
There's also a bunch of hardware to buy. I reckon that will be a lot. Gotta buy a sail, too, that will be a bunch of money all at once.
You would also need some sort of additional flotation, which may add some lumber/plywood or foam cost. Charlie Jones built a flotation/storage box for his Sharpie. I haven't decided what to do about the flotation problem yet.
