thinning paint

Can anyone provide me some insight into thinning out Interlux Brightsides? I'm trying to improve the leveling out qualities for application in a hot and humid shop. The Interlux website recommends Brushing Liquid 333. I was wondering if the thinner sold in my hardware store would do. Also, any thoughts on how much to add? Thanks.
