I was surprised at how effective the officials whistles were, even when the PA system was unintelligible. Many vessels are required to have a horn or bell aboard for signaling in fog or low vis. conditions. The whistle is an inexpensive, light weight, easily carried addition to ones equipment. Surely an air horn would be more effective! RogerJ
