Homebuilt Boat Bazaar

Posted by CLC on Jul 30, 2005

We just rolled up a new feature for the site, a classified ads section specifically for homebuilt boats.

We get calls every day from boat addicts trying to figure out how to sell the last boatbuilding project to make room in their garage for the next boatbuilding project. It occurred to us that the very heavy traffic at CLCboats.com combined with a classified ads section would make it easy to sell your wooden boat. Quite simply, more eyeballs pass through here in a week than flip through the classifieds in the back of Messing About In Boats or Boatbuilder combined. (Not that I don't love those rags. Go buy a subscription. Now.)

It'll be free for the moment. If the Homebuilt Boat Bazaar gets to where it requires a lot of administration, we may institute some nominal fee (likely in the single digits).

Also: homebuilt boats only, please; okay to sell your Six Hour Canoe, not okay to sell your Mad River canoe. Doesn't have to be a CLC boat; any type or size is welcome. No, you needn't have built the boat yourself, but it needs to be an amateur project. The professionals can afford to take out an ad on YachtWorld.com. As the tyrants who run the site, we offer one possible exception: ourselves. We might sell off an old display boat from time to time.

So: go pull the tarp off that old Gloucester Light Dory or Cape Charles and snap a few digital photos. You'll sell it here.
