asking for solutions

It works. I walked into the local rigging/racing dinghy marine hardware store (ok, maybe that's not a common thing) and said "I'd like to connect a pivoting toe plate to a 1/16" ss. cable and have it be adjustable for different positions on the footrail, it's about a 3' distance". I was thinking of various straps and adjusting sliders like Necky and other kayak manufacturers use between the push/pull footbraces and the rudder cable. He said "try this out,,1/8" hollow braid Vectran line with an eye splice at either end. It's like a chinese finger toy where you can adjust the length by making the eye bigger or smaller, pull here, hold here.".. $.37/ft. , the splicing fid was the pricey item.
