Re: I HATE my hatches

I had a similar issue with my front hatch on my ches 18...mine got some twist into it and wouldnt fit properly at all. I used the cutout from the rear deck when I cut out that hatch to make a new hatch cover. I also modified my frames to more closely fit the camber of the deck. Since deck camber varies, clc cuts the arc to about what it should be, but every boat's a little different. Try the gasket in there and if that doesn't seal the gap, you might want to consider whipping up a new hatch. Doesnt require to much in terms of materials. I was able to use leftovers :)

The ches 18 didn't have a glassed deck back then when I built mine - if your deck is glassed and hatch cover isnt, it might look a slightly different tone. Its supposed to be clear, and just about is...i can see the difference sometimes though. Varnish all around will probably even it out some.

Happy building

PS you're gonna love that boat - I've had mine for around 5 years now and its great :)
