From reading the archives it appears that it is OK to sparingly use the boat before varnishing.

The tiny "pocks" or half bubbles on the inside will be sanded with 220 grit before I begin varnish coats anyway.

So I'll guess she'll hit the water this weekend for a row unless I get some negative feedback here...
