A few more comments to add to the other builders':
For the perimeter lines, as Dave said below, they should be low stretch lines, i.e., no nylon, but no kevlar either. Dacron polyester with a soft feel to it, like the lines used on sailboats, are much easier on the hands than standard woven line.
If you have a good marine supply house nearby, stop in and feel some lines. 1/4 or 5/16" diameter should be good.
