Re: A long paddle

With an eight MPH river current, that's a 72 mile day, three miles per hour average speed. River records are a bit suspect, last week the Chulitna River here was cranking along about 12 MPH and a steerable log would have had a 24 hour distance of 288 miles.
Seriously, these guys look like tough paddlers tho. I am guessing this was a river trip, hard to paddle an average speed of 11 mph for 24 hours on flat water.
Does anyone know the flatwater, no wind distance record for kayaks? Randy
