Multi-color staining
Posted by Dave on Jun 11, 2005
Hi folks -
I'm thinking of staining the boat and have thought it would nice to have a different color on the top then on the sides, ideally with the bottom color wrapped around a bit onto the deck - ala painted bottom, varnished top in the tech tips. Will fine-line tape be respected by the stain the way the paint respects it?
Has anyone every tried this? Will the stain bleed too might to get a nice line of differentiation between the two colors? If I stain with the lighter color first, can I overstain that with the second color on the deck without worry of bleed or smear.
Any thoughts, suggestions are welcome.
