repair inwhale crack?
Posted by John Muller on Jun 9, 2005
Before I took my Jimmy Skiff out for a row last weekend I noticed a hairline crack in the inwhale right where the left oarlock was screwed in. I didn't want to have it crack further or even break while I was out so I moved the oarlocks forward a bit away from the crack.
I had no problems, but it seems that the crack followed the oarlocks and is a bit larger.
What are my options for repairing this? Do I need to cut out a section of the inwhale and replace it? Is there any way to stop the cracking and eliminate the weakness with epoxy or wood glue?
Thanks for your help.
