Matt, I thought I would chime in. When building my mc13 I cut the panels then stood them up in the corner of my garage for a week while on vacation. When I began working on it again, to my horror, water "wicked up" through the concrete and into my panels. It wicked up about 4-6 inches. The water stained the wood a blackish color. It didn�t get worse or better as time passed. Lucky for me some was planed off during scarfing. Now I have about 3 inches showing and it�s on the bilge panel, hardly noticeable. If it�s only on the side you may consider painting the hull and going bright on the deck.
