Re: Light weight fillets?

silica powder does not really help make a light weight fillet...becuase it does not displace the epoxy which is really what makes up the weight of the fillet.

if you want a lightweight fillet, it needs to be less dense than the alternative. microballooms and other lightweight/easily sanded fairing compounds are used for lightweight fillet...however, they also can compromize the strength.

your fillets should really be composed primarily of wood flour and be mayonaise consistency. glass applied over a fillet will be clear and assume the colour of the fillet.
