Doug and Robert,
Next to bats, dragonflies are my bestest friends.
In the Quebec Laurentians we are pretty much at the mercy of blood-sucking, chunk-eating bugs through the month of May, with deer fly pests for the balance of the season. The bats clean up on mosquitos in the evening, but it is those beautiful big black Sekorsky (sp) dragonflies that help keep us sane during the day.
I've been fortunate to have them ride on the brim of my hat - leaving only to nail a deer fly and returning to the same spot to eat it. (I offered ketchup, but she preferred it aldente).
And sunlight through those wings shames the best stained glass windows.
