Yea, I kind of thought about something like this as I was grunting my way through the sanding. Unfortunately I had already sanded the shere panels and put a thin coat of epoxy back on tryuing to fill remaining low spots. Thus, feathering the overlap was impossible without hitting a little glass on the side...a patch here and there. Though I have not cut into it deep i am just worried it will look like glass tweed in patches under the varish. But these patches seem to clear up when, in the past, I have re-coated with epoxy so it seems like varish should have a similar effect. I like the idea of using tape and trimming the overhag. Thae darn thing is getting rubrails anyway so who needs more fabric?
