Swimming water temp?

Posted by Randy Knauff on Jun 1, 2005

In cold waters, unless you are dry or wet suited, swimming is not a good choice. If you have a boat, even upside down to climb on to, it is not a good choice to swim. Prep your boat with correct floatation, know your paddling skills, know your reentry skills, be dressed for the water. There are plenty of cases from highly trained military on the Great Lakes, skilled paddlers in the north Atlantic and north Pacific, I have numerous local instances....where trying to swim put people in worse situations or killed them. Continual practice in gradually more challenging conditions is the way. Randy
