Brass Rub Strips

Two cautions here if you do decide to go with brass half oval.

Set up a jig/clamp in a drill press if you can when drilling the pilot holes into the brass. You want to center them as accurately as possible. Yes it can be done with a hand drill, but, you need a very steady hand.

When drilling the pilot holes into the keel line, make sure that you size the holes corectly. Too small, and the brass screws will break off when you tighten them (#6 brass hasn't got a lot of resistance to torque). Nothing quite as annoying as figuring out how to remove a broken screw, after you've already drilled all of the surrounding pilot holes.
