An eighth-inch isn't enough to affect tracking of the kayak, if I'm visualizing the issue correctly. (I'm assuming you've got a little curve in the keel that amounts to an eighth-inch of "left-" or "right-rudder.")

It takes a whole lot more than that.

Were you painting the hull, and you wanted to fix it because it was bothering you, you'd grind on one side and fill on the other, but I don't think you should if you're going to varnish.

The (black) Rubstrip Kits are one functional way to mask surgery like that.
