deck beam
Posted by Mislav on May 23, 2005
I have laminated deck beam from 3 pieces of 5mm thick fir lattice. As it sprang back slightly I noticed that it's shape appear more like parabollic than round. Therefore it doesn't match the shape of the bulkheads exactly. I did try to bend a piece of 4mm scrap ply around it and it appears that it bends fine.
Now the question is would it be OK to use this deck beam shape as a template for planing my bulkheads and sheer clamps, or should I make another attempt to laminate deck beam more precisely?
