Closed cell foam

Posted by Robert N Pruden on May 16, 2005

Hi, Catherine

I have a piece of foam lining the bottom of the cockpit to protect the hull from heel wear. The bonus for that use is that the cockpit stays warmer in cold weather, I can paddle barefoot with no pain on my heels, and I have a spare piece of foam in case I need it for the seat or some other function.

If you go the foam route, just cut it to the width of the hull interior up to the height of the footpeg rails. The rails help to hold it in place. Length can be whatever you want. Mine is 2.5' long.
