Foot braces

I'm finishing my Ches 16 and need to install the black plastic footbraces. Do I put a wetted down strip of fiberglass, let harden, Then just screw the foot brace on? OR do I also epoxy the foot brace to the fiberglass then screw it on when dry. Would appreciate any help. GG
