Read my story.

Here's a story closer to home, Anthony. I got myself into a pickle when I started a cross-Canada river trip solo without proper information. I was warned to wait but I am stubborn. I did very good prep work for this trip but I made one oversight that almost killed me. It did wreck my kayak. The kayak has been rebuilt and I did go on to restart my trip, which ended successfully. I'll send you the links for the rebuild and the successful trip if you like.

Let my stories tell you up front - kayaking can be dangerous and sometimes there isn't anything you can do when trouble happens and sometimes trouble happens when you least expect it. If you prepare through safety and technical training, you reduce your chances of incident - not eliminate, but reduce.
