Boat cover for Skerry

I plan to keep my skerry down on a river dock and am having a cover made. The covermaker suggested making frames to hold the spars up to "tent" the cover allowing the rain to drain off. Has anyone seen any good ideas for doing this? I was going to build two 1"x16" frames extending from the oar locks to hold the spars. A-frame shaped pieces extending laterally, gunwhale to gunwhale would do it, it just seems a little cumbersome, heavy and perhaps more complex than necessary.

Any ideas or websites with pics would be much appreciated.
