1st Montreal Paddle
Posted by Mac on May 6, 2005
Just came back from a 2+ HR paddle on the mighty Saint Lawrence river (that's the river taking all the Laurentian mountain snow melt to the Atlantic Ocean). The usual paradox - Hot as &$^% in the Sun, Cold as $#%$ in the water - how to dress? Did the safe thing a dressed for the water (LeeL!). All my clothing is now on the line drying out - from the inside - man, I musta lost 10 lbs! (Thank you - Kayak Spa). Must admit though, you've got a ton more confidence when you're dressed for immersion.
What a GREAT paddle. Us Kanuks wait for about at least 4 - 5 months for this (unless our name is Rob Pruden) and it's like a hug from an old friend. I found calm water in the lee of a large island, and damn near fell asleep.
There are Mallard Ducks EVERYWHERE! The Small Mouth Bass are jumpin' and the cotton is high - 'kay I lied about the cotton.
WHAT A BUZZZZZZZZ!
Luv ya!
Mac
