I have a Severn, which is similar to a Yare. I agree with Dave, in that the initial stability of the boat leaves something to be desired. It also doesn't track all that well and has a cramped cockpit. But it's light (25 lbs.)
I used it for a few years for short paddles on protected waters, as I can lift it alone (bad back). But the little 14s I've been building are much more versatile, track better, are faster and only weigh 6 more lbs.
The Severn, like the Yare, is deceptively difficult to build. Both boats are lovely to behold - maybe better for wall decor than paddling.
