I'm carrying an 18 foot annapolis wherry and wasn't happy with the movement on the highway. It's due to the distance between my two roofracks on a vw golf is only 30 inches. I built an attachment that goes into my trailer hitch, goes up with enough clearance to open the rear hatchback and is topped with a removable "Y" section to stabilize the rear of the boat. Very easy to build if you know someone who welds, only cost $20 bucks in material, and my boat is way more stable now.
