Laz, ol' buddy, I'm pretty sure it's a recycled Dobsonian mount, especially since it moves in alt-az motions. But being as you brought it up, I believe anyone who wants to build kayaks first needs to master telescope making, and vice versa.

Boy, talk about two hobbies that compliment each other! Did I luck out or what?
