Re: West River vs. Artic

Very different boats. The Arctic Hawk is a pious reproduction of Plate XX-X from the Adney & Chapelle textbook on Native American watercraft. Long, narrow, low volume, fast, elegant handling. Enough space for weekend camping (or longer if you're hardcore).

The West River 18 is a higher volume boat, very low wetted surface, very very fast for its size and weight. The newer West River 18 actually has a prominent chine amidships so it edges nicely for turning. Loads of rocker, high volume bow. Big, comfortable cockpit, larger storage compartments than the Arctic Hawk.

As regards handling, the Arctic Hawk is a BMW M3; the West River 18 is a Saab Turbo.
