We got a call years ago from a gentleman who had just installed the deck on his Cape Charles kayak. The epoxy cured, and the next day as he moved the boat around he heard heavy thumping noises inside the forward compartment. With growing alarm he mustered his tools, and his block plane didn't answer roll call.

When he checked in with the tech help desk here, he was still fairly intent on keeping his forward deck clean of a hatch opening. Was there any other way he could get his block plane back?

He ended up with a forward hatch in his boat.
