The deck is not a section of a cone or a cylinder between deckbeam and the tip of the deck; unlike the string, it curves down to the bulkhead and then sweeps up to the bow. Lay a straightedge on the plans between the tip of the bow and top of the deck at the cockpit; you'll see the curve.
