Scot, have you seen a s&g kayak zip at the seams? I've seen thermoplastic kayaks have adhesion failure at the deck/hull seam. I've seen fiberglass coamings come off fiberglass decks because they weren't attached well. I've experienced wood and fiberglass decks break during rescue practice. I've seen wood/glass hull/deck punctures against sharp impacts. I've seen tiny water staining cracks in epoxied plywood that flexed too much. But I've never seen a zipper like failure at a chine seam on a four panel hull.
