Re: tape in cockpit?
Posted by Howard on Mar 23, 2005
the arctic hawk, whose panels are pre-glassed with 4 oz cloth on the inside (before being assembled into the hull), uses only 4 oz cloth over the the fillets and the floor of the cockpit, but no tape in that area.
at the bow and stern ....they use 9 oz tape over the fillets for about 2 feet from the ends inward.
and their are actually sections, between the cockpit and the bow/stern 9oz taped section...that have fillets and no tape.
but as i said, all panels, are preglassed on the inside with 4oz.
i distinctly remember some points made by leeg in previous posts about how fillets actually fail...that were relevent to this discussion...and may give some insight about how to proceed.
