One thing if found that helped me when sighting down the boat to see if the two boards were parallel. I spray painted one board white and the other black, easier to tell the two boards apart when doing the sighting and also stopped the farthest one from getting "lost" in the background. Of course my eyes aint what they used to be, but I found it helped me.
