if'n you think about it there are probably more electric trolling motors sitting in garages ready to be plopped onto a square sterned canoe than there are specific sailing rigs or row wings that are essential parts to finish the skiff,wherry,skerry,yawl. Making a square sterned canoe would put a cap on a kit cost unlike the sail boat kits that jump from $1300 to $2300 to complete the picture. Looking over the glass and plastic square sterned canoes and small aluminum jon boats would indicate it's not an uncommon middle class watersports consumer item. If there's technological spinoffs to auto hybrid technologies it should manifest itself down to batteries and motors on boats.
