I've got a Sony PS150 (7mp), it is a good camera for close up work. I have the digital zoom locked out so it ends up being a 3X zoom but the photos are so large that you can do a fair amount of manipulation in an editing program on your computer without losing any definition.

I'm not the worlds greatest photographer but it seems to do the job for me. The problem with larger cameras is storage when paddling and then the ability to access them quickly to take a shot.

Just my 2cents worth.
