Fiberglass Pax 20

I know it�s nearly a sin to post a message like this inn a wood-kayak forum. I've bought plans for PAX 20 1� years ago, but haven't started building the kayak yet. My idea is: Is it possible to cut the pieces and make the whole kayak from fiberglass instead of wood? I think it will make the kayak lighter, but will it be strong enough?
