David, I've always wanted to see a woodburning done on a boat so I hope you get that posted soon. You might get lots of individual requests to email it since you mentioned it!

As for the varnish job, I just finished varnishing my kayak inside of our house before Christmas. The varnish doesn't have much of an odor to speak of, and hours of huffing produced no noticeable high (ok I didn't really huff it and it didn't make anyone dizzy :-D). I even painted with marine paint indoors. Now THAT was awful smelling, but I could tolerate it. My wife couldn't stand it thoug.h.
