Actually, I saw the foam used on a This Old House job. In that case, it was an application to open walls - probably a much better use for the stuff.

I presume the manufacturer has data from which to calculate the quantity needed for a given volume of enclosed space, but gees, we're talking irregularly shaped tanks, some with compound curves in one or more sides! I haven't done geometry or calc like that since college, and I did it with stubborn reluctance then!

I still like my empty plastic bottles. There's certainly plenty of them along N. American rivers and beaches, and they have the added benefit of being handy storage for rain water if you get stranded with Mr. Crusoe.
