drain plugs

wouldn't a Beckson hatch or equivalent be better? Drain plugs are for draining things,,if you have enough water that can drain out of a plug then there's more left behind that needs drying out,,a bigger hatch would actually perform that function and provide a means to get to things. If the comparment is truly sealed then the only place water can come from is the plug/hatch.
