Flush Hatches Hold Downs

Ok well I have seen a couple of ideas on how to hold down flush hatches, but to be honest, Im not about to install earth magnets on my boat like a lot of other people have said. Something about it doesnt intrigue me.

Im building a West River 18.

So...

A) I was looking for ideas on different ways to hold flush hatches down. The more ideas the better.

B) I figure the whole idea of having flush hatches is so that the wood grain matches and you dont have obscene things holding the deck down on the deck. So with this in mind how are people actually getting there flush hatch covers out once they are pulled or magneted down. Any ideas would be great!
