installing deck on Ches18
Posted by Karl on Jan 7, 2005
Thanks folks for the replies to my previous question about the deck beams. I'm curious, since I don't have a lot of experience with 'glassing (although I did okay with the outside of the hull so far) I'm a little concerned with glassing the deck and transitioning over the sheers with the fabric overhang. My thought was to avoid the problem by glassing the deck, prior to trimming the plywood, and then bevelling the edges with a D/A sander. Naturally I would then coat the exposed edging with epoxy, but I wouldn't be worried about stray filaments etc. that you get when cutting an unselvedged edge. Any thoughts?
