Please feel free to contact me by email anytime. I thought that retrofitting the rudder would be much more difficult than it was. Shallow water really isn't a problem. First, the rudder is retractable. Second, the way in which it retracts/deploys is such that an impact with a submerged object going forward will merely lift the rudder back and up. It would end up partially retracted. I wouldn't recommend running into any submerged objects on purpose, but I don't see damage occurring from an occassional impact.
