decorative cloth

I want to get your opinion as to whether this may work. I want to lay a non-structural piece of fabric down over my hull and saturate with epoxy then varnish after it has cured. I want to do this not on my kayak, but on a swamp skiff I'm working on. I want a camo hull. I'm thinking this will work as long as the epoxy makes a good bond to the hull. Also, I would not like a glossy camo hull, so is it possible to get or make a flatter varnish? Thanks
