If you have pin holes in the primed fiberglass you can simply "squeege" the primer on. Regardless of the type of primer, how its meant to be applied etc. it works by forcing the primer into the pin holes.
I have found that the epoxy/micro mix tends to sag terribly on sloped or vert surfaces. A blend at 6 parts micro to 1 part silica thickener will give an easy sanding mix that doesn't sag. I have faired "acres" of hull surface on the large ocean going multihulls I used to build and this mix works great.
