Retrofit of Dayhatch

Good Morning!

I've just returned from reading a recently added (?) shop tip on building/adding a day hatch using a VPC hatch cover. Looks like a good idea - has anyone done this on, say a Ch17 or 18?

What happens to the paddle float recovery setup? Any way of incorporating the two? I'm thinking that if the recovery would normally be done from the port side, install the VPC cover to starboard and leave the bungie as is. The paddle blade should lay flat over the tupperware lid and go beneath the left hand bungie easily enough?

And how long will it be before Tony Calvert creates one flush with magnets - thereby eliminating my recovery question altogether?
