Mac, Irl, Charlie: thanks. I am ready to proceed with confidence once more!!!
Helps to know that it is a common problem.
As the bulkhead is quite securely in place, I think the least rework will be to take Mac's suggestion and build up the bulkhead to the correct height.
Charlie, re the history: I think what happened was basically this: they decided to "functionally stabilize" the Sharpie before I got my (partial) kit, so it was probably not considered economically justifiable to correct the errors in the cut shape of all three bulkheads and the errors in the drawings. (The positions shown in the drawings for the aft bulkhead and one pair of hanging knees are each off by ten inches.)
