i use charlie's method with the surform...very quickly gets you down to the wood where your plain can then do the work.

would also say that this is a step in constuction where you can really nick yourself if you don't watch your fingers on the plane/surform and can cut yourself on that sharp glassed edge...

so good luck but watch those fingers.
