Only if has dripped onto the outside side panel would I remove it. On the upper face or on the inside of the side panel leave as is. Can sand off the face of the upper sheer clamp so you won't havae to plane it. I taped the outside at the top edge with clear tape so that itf there was excess it would stay on the tape and peel off.
